Grandes Economistas

Andre Gunder Frank, 1929-

Economista alemán, doctorado en Economía en la Universidad de Chicago en 1957. Profesor en diversas universidades europeas, africanas y americanas, entre ellas Iowa, Michigan, Santiago de Cuba, Brasilia, y Santiago de Chile.

Neo-marxista especializado en economía del subdesarrollo, sigue la teoría de la dependencia de Raúl Prebish y H.W. Singer según la cual, la sociedad mundial ha desarrollado una dinámica centro-periferia en la que los países subdesarrollados han quedado condenados al papel de proveedores de materias primas. Acusa a la burguesía latinoamericana de ser la primera interesada en el mantenimiento de relaciones de dependencia con la metrópoli.

A partir de los años 80 se une (y lidera) a la corriente historicista de los World Systems.
